UKM Team won the Institute of Higher Learning Cricket Championship

BANGI, 19 April, 2011- UKM Cricket Team A emerged champion for the UKM Vice Chancellor Shield Cricket Competition after beating Sunway University College by four wickets in the finals at the UKM Oval here Sunday.

Eight teams from Higher Education Institutes throughout the country took part in the three day championship. UKM’s Team B was the second runner-up.

The UKM Team received a cash prize of RM1000, the Vice Chancellor Shield and medals handed over by Prof Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Sharifah Hapsah Syed Hasan Shahabudin. Sunway University College Team received a cash prize of RM700 and medals while UKM Team B received RM 400 dan medals.

Mohd Nik Azril Arifin from UKM was judged the best player hitting 114 runs and taking 5 wickets for 38 runs. The best batsman was Sohail Khan who hit a total of 135 runs with four not outs with Abu Hayat Riyad emerging the best bowler with 6 wickets for 36 runs. Both are from Sunway University College.

Deputy Vice chancellor (Students and Alumni Affairs, Prof Ir Othman A. Karim was among those present at the prize presentation ceremony.
